If Jesus was a Harvard Business School professor teaching the class “Reimagining Capitalism: Business and Big Problems,” would you sign up? Would you be nervous about what he might teach or the ideas he would suggest? I suspect the only required textbook would be the Bible and that He would apply its principles to solve the “Big Problems” the business world faces today. The real question is: Is using the Bible as your primary textbook enough to cut it in the unforgiving and relentless world of business and entrepreneurship?
At Stock in God, we believe this unequivocally.* Luckily, if you’re not convinced, God has provided a professor, the Holy Spirit, and the only textbook required, the Bible, to lead us through our education…no Harvard Business School tuition required.
We believe there is a biblical lense for hiring and firing, goal setting, profit generation and a biblical lens for EVERY other decision or situation. Biblical principles, applied correctly, will transform our lives and businesses for His glory.
The question we posed before was this: Is using the Bible as your primary textbook enough to cut it in the unforgiving and relentless world of business and entrepreneurship? If the answer is yes, then we will spend more time in scripture than with any other book or podcast focused on our business development. Let’s put our stock in 2 Timothy, knowing that God’s word is profitable for learning and equipping in the world of business.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV
*Disclaimer: We haven’t figured this out yet…it’s part of our faith journey of wrestling with HOW our life of faith meets the business world.
